E. William Kratt Herring Mills & Kratt PLLC, Raleigh
You’ll find me at the mountains, trails and communities around Boone and Blowing Rock. My wife and I started going there at least annually well before our marriage 15 years ago. We now go with our two sons regularly to hike, camp, appreciate local artists and music, play in the rivers and streams and generally enjoy time with each other away from the responsibilities of home.
Vita: Born June 12, 1962, in Raleigh; bachelor’s and law degrees from Wake Forest University; wife and two sons. Why he chose this field: I enjoy working with my clients to learn about their needs and goals and to solve the problems raised by their unique circumstances. What he’d be if not a lawyer: A teacher or maybe a perpetual student. Memorable case: Early in my career I prepared straightforward wills and powers of attorney for a young couple with their first child. The husband was seriously injured in a workplace accident that left him unable to care for himself. The power of attorney helped ease the burden for the wife. It impressed on me the benefits of even the most basic planning. Passions: Watching our sons grow and mature; enjoying nature, particularly in the mountains; cheering the Wake Forest Demon Deacons; and North Carolina barbecue, in all its forms. Favorite writer: I have always loved the short stories of Mark Twain. His observations of human nature were unerring. Don’t ask him to: Eat grits (but most everything else is fair game).
