WIlmington-based Live Oak Bank opened its new 36,000-square-foot headquarters, a space that features spacious windows and scenic views. The bank is one of the largest lenders of Small Business Administration loans in the country.

Lawmaker tries to revive bill to kill renewable energy standard

State Rep. Mike Hager, chairman of the House Committee on Public Utilities and Energy, said he plans to reintroduce his bill that would eliminate standards for how much renewable-energy sources utilities must purchase despite it being voted down already.

Flat Rock purchasing golf course for $1.2M

Charlotte home prices rise 6.2% in February

Wilmington's 85,000-square-foot VA clinic has opened, cutting the distance that veterans must travel for treatment. Previously the closest VA clinic to the city was in Fayetteville.

Dex One, Supermedia close to completion after judge's approval

Two former Southern Community Banking Corp. executives are suing Capitol Bank Financial Corp, which purchased the bank last year, for breach of contract after they were fired and not given $4 million in payments they say they were due. They also accused the two banks of colluding during negotiations.
