HCL leases four-story office building in Cary

HCL has leased a 125,000-square-foot building off Regency Parkway in Cary. The India-based technology consulting firm announced in September it will invest $9 million to expand its local Global Delivery Center and add 1,237 jobs.

Technimark investing $25M in Asheboro plant

Technimark will add 163 jobs and invest $25.9 million over three years at its Asheboro headquarters and manufacturing plant, where the company employs nearly 1,000 people. Technimark makes plastic packaging components for consumer products including detergent and shampoo. 

Cape Fear Valley begins restructuring of Harnett Health

Cape Fear Valley Health will lay off 19 Harnett Health employees as part of a financial restructuring. The Fayetteville-based hospital system took over management of the financially troubled Harnett Health, which includes 101-bed Betsy Johnson Hospital in Dunn and 50-bed Central Harnett Hospital in Lillington, last week. 

About 30,000 passengers flew Allegiant in first year at Concord airport

Allegiant Airlines will add two weekly flights from Concord to Tampa, Fla., beginning Nov. 15. The low-cost airline has served about 30,000 passengers since it began passenger service at Concord Regional Airport in Dec. 2013. The airport, located about 16 miles northeast of downtown Charlotte, has also seen a 150% increase in commercial operations since 2012.

Country Club of Asheville could be sold to McConnell Golf

Shareholders of the Country Club of Asheville will vote Nov. 19 on whether to sell the 120-year-old golf club to Raleigh-based McConnell Golf. If the deal is approved, McConnell will assume up to $2.3 million in debt and invest at least $4 million over three years.

GE Hitachi gets federal grant to test new nuclear technology

Cumberland County chicken plant may be back on the table

Last week's election results could revive talks of bringing a $113 million chicken-processing plant to Cumberland County. Two of the county's newly elected commissioners are in favor of the Sanderson Farms plant, while two are undecided and three are opposed. The Mississippi-based company has said the plant would bring more than 1,000 jobs to the area.
